World's largest Ferris wheel opens in Vegas

High Roller is a 167.6 m tall, 160 m diameter giant Ferris wheel on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It is the world's tallest observation wheel, 2.7 m taller than the 165 m Singapore Flyer, which held the record for the world's tallest observation wheel from 2008 until 2014. After nearly three years of planning and construction it opened to the public on March 31, 2014.

It’s the South Pacific idyll Marlon Brando considered his personal sanctuary after discovering it while filming Mutiny on the Bounty in the Sixties. Now, on the 10th anniversary of The Godfather actor’s death, the private island of Tetiaroa is opening a high-end luxury resort called The Brando with rooms costing up to £7,500 a night.

Santorini - Black Pearl of the Aegean

Santorini is an island in the southern Aegean Sea, about 120 miles southeast of Greece's mainland. It was was named by the Latin Empire in the thirteenth century, and is a reference to Saint Irene, from the name of the old cathedral in the village of Perissa. Before then, it was known as Kallístē "the most beautiful one" or Thēra. The name Thera was revived in the nineteenth century as the official name of the island and its main city, but the colloquial name Santorini is still in popular use.
