World’s Most Expensive Car Is a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO sold for $53 million!

It’s not hard to accept that the world’s most expensive car is a Ferrari, but what you might not expect is that the vehicle in question isn’t some modern, rampaging beast packed with technology, but an all time classic masterpiece with a rich heritage.

That’s right! We’re talking about a Ferrari 250 GTO from 1963 that was recently sold for a whopping price of $53 million. Highly exclusive, this particular car came in first at the 1963 Tour de France, which must have had something to do with its exorbitant price. This gorgeous 250 GTO was previously owned by a Greenwich, Connecticut-based collector named Paul Pappalardo, who bought it for himself in 1974 and restored it completely. Even though we don’t have any details regarding the identity of its new owner, he is definitely of the happiest Ferrari enthusiasts in the world right now.

The previous record for the world’s most expensive car was also held by a 250 GTO once driven by Sir Stirling Moss, which was worth no less than $35 million. It is pretty clear that this classic Ferrari model is currently the most sought-after collectible in the world, and it will probably remain so for years to come.
