The Fullerton Bay Hotel, Singapore

Singapore's Marina Bay district is already a sparkling wonderland of glass, steel, and status. Now that the Fullerton Bay Hotel has opened, though, you're going to need some serious shades. Looking out on the man-made engineering marvel that is the Marina Bay waterfront, The Fullerton Bay Hotel sits low and sleek, as if to flippantly ignore the race for height supremacy among its neighbors.

Near to the whirring business district, The Fullerton Bay Hotel is obviously convenient for those dressed in suit and tie, but also doubles as a relaxing waterfront retreat for pleasure seekers. The lobby is adorned with vintage nautical maps and local art, while the central atrium sits below a massive chandelier.

100 rooms and six individually themed suites are based on a muted palette, and manage to pull off warm and modern at the same time.

Diners will be pleased, as Clifford boasts massive windows and Brasserie-style eats. If dining al fresco is your thing, The Landing Point is a must see. But if you'd rather skip to the real fun, head up, to the rooftop Lantern bar, where cocktails clink about beside the pool.
