5 Star Amanpulo Resort by Aman Resorts

Five star Amanpulo Resort is located on the private island of Pamalican set among the Quiniluban Group of Cuyo Islands, situated in the north of the Palawan Province of the Philippines. Named after the Sanskrit word for peace, aman, and the Tagalog word for island, Amanpulo is a serene retreat offering the pure white sands, turquoise seas and endless blue skies for which the Philippine archipelago is famed. The entire island of Pamalican is dedicated to Amanpulo, fringed by seven square kilometres of pristine coral reef and lapped by the tranquil Sulu Sea.

Amanpulo’s facilities enjoy a spacious layout complementing their natural surroundings. The resort’s casitas are situated on the beach, amongst the treetops or on the hillside overlooking the Sulu Sea. Each has its own private buggy allowing independent travel on the island.

An island resort since December 1993, Amanpulo’s 40 casitas are twin-roofed bungalows in hillside and beachfront settings, loosely modelled after the Philippine bahay kubo (native dwelling). Decorative interior details reflect the islands: pebblewashed walls, coconut-shell tables, rustic Palawan rice and knife baskets, a king-size bed with a rattan headboard and sliding-glass doors that reveal outdoor decks and his-and-her divans. The large Cebu marble bathroom features twin vanities, separate changing areas, a shower and an elegant bathtub lit by large windows with wooden shutters.

The island’s turquoise waters and coral reefs provide a variety of water and beach activities. These include snorkelling and scuba diving (with PADI certification available), as well as fishing.

The Restaurant is located at the Clubhouse and extends onto a terrace with views to Manamoc Island across the sea. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served and the menu features Asian and Continental cuisine.

Situated on a hillside with views of the Sulu Sea, Amanpulo's Aman Spa consists of a series of pavilions constructed of native wood and other natural materials. The Reception Pavilion includes a lounge and retail space on the entry level, and a Finishing Salon on the floor below for manicures, pedicures and hair appointments. Each treatment room offers a deep-soaking bath tub, washroom, dressing area and steam shower, along with magnificent sea views. The Yoga and Meditation Pavilion also enjoys beautiful views and is available for private or group classes. The Fitness Pavilion houses the Pilates Studio, a fully-equipped gymnasium, wet areas including steam rooms and cold plunge pools, and outdoor relaxation areas.
