Motu Teta, Tahiti

It doesn't get much more exclusive than this: Your very own South Pacific island, equipped with all the comforts of a luxury hotel. Splashing out of the surf with a freshly caught lobster in hand, it occurs to you that this is how the South Pacific looked when Captain Cook sailed through in the 1760s. Coconut palms, beach after white-sand beach, dazzlingly clear blue water - on a private island miles from anywhere. For you - the sole guest of nine-acre Motu Teta - it's just another day in paradise.

At 2,250 sq. ft, the Main Villa Residence on Motu Teta is open to the ocean breeze in the traditional Tahitian style, with high ceilings and exposed beams. It contains three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and your personal chef will be happy to prepare that lobster in the back kitchen. Of course, there's also a veranda for sunsets on the turquoise lagoon.

As stunning as the island is up top, its underwater scenery defies description. Snorkel along the coral reef through brilliant schools of fish, or peer into the ocean depths from a Polynesian outrigger canoe. Staff can also arrange waterskiing and wakeboarding.
